Campus Wardrobe Essentials: Fall by jinamichele
Being that I am a pro college student, I know just what pieces have become my wardrobe essentials, especially for living in a dorm room.
I've found that versatility is the best way to get the most use out of each of the items and having basics in neutral colors is the number one way of doing so.
I have decided to compile a list of what I find to be most important things you will need to keep in your closet and tried to be as specific as possible but as always, you can tailor this to fit into your own style.
1. Comfortable/Stretch Jeans
I've found that I always opt for a good pair of comfortable jeans in a medium wash first thing in the morning. Jeans are easy to dress up or dress down and no matter, what they always seem to go with my oufit in any mood. My favorite jeans are from Zara. They never lose their great fit and just like any good quality pair of jeans, they get better with every wash. These were just $30!
2. Oversized Blouse/Sweater
Zara Striped Oversize Shirt Zara V-Neck SweaterAnother staple piece I tend to opt for is an oversized/loose fitting blouse, or on cooler days, a sweater. I love the draping effect of a looser fitting blouse. It fits in with my "effortlessly casual" look that I tend to go for on days that I do have class.
3. Nude & Black Flats
I love my flats, especially when walking around campus and going to class. They are the final step in tying together my favorite kind of jeans and tee combo. I prefer my flats with a pointed toe for a more modern look and black and nude are essential to combining them with different outfits.
5. V-Neck Tee
Nike Air Max 90 Premium Women's Shoe I rarely ever wear sneakers anymore. Maybe I wore them out too much when I was in high school. But I do find that I don't know what I would do without them. They are the most comfortable things to wear on days when I know I'll need to be walking all over campus or even for days when I just want a more sporty look. My favorite brand for sneakers is Nike. 7. Basic/Solid Color Dress
H&M Ribbed polo-neck dress A dress for me can only mean two things. Either I didn't know what to wear for the day or I didn't feel like getting dressed! Dresses are so easy because you just put it on and go out the door. I love a basic dress like most of these pieces for the reason that you can dress it up or down. Pair it with heels for a nigh out with your friends, flats for a casual daytime look, or even running sneakers and a leather jacket for a nice sport-luxe look. I'm really loving this one from H&M. 8. Leather Skirt
Satine shoes We all know my love for black strappy heels already so of course it made its way to this list. They are my most favorite type of heel and my number one go-to. For going out, they have become a staple throughout my college years. 11. Camel Coat
H&M Short coat Now it is Fall so it does get chilly here in New York. Having a coat in a camel color is very versatile. I've found that in this color it works with every outfit. This suede textured one fits in with this season's trends as well. 12. Black Tote
H&M Shopper Last but most certainly not least is a Black Tote bag. The number one thing that I use everyday no matter if my outfit is casual or very dressed down is a tote bag. It is the perfect size for carrying books, snacks, or anything else I would need for my days. I love the ones from H&M.
